Need some Feedback:
I recently inherated a 1911 colt .45, It was my grandfathers and it was issued to him in the war, its still with the leather U.S. case... It is in good condition, but could use some touchups.. I was looking on the wilson combat website, and they offer a gun refinishing product called armor tuff finishing, it looks great, even in different colors, I like the black/od green combo myself, but my question is do you think I would ruin the value of the gun by refinishing it??  I think its worth around $1100.

I am not a gun expert by any means but yes I think it would, if it is an original WWII issue I would definitley leave it alone and buy another 1911 to customize. And besides, your grandfather had it, at the very least for sentimental value (for me anyway) I would leave it alone. Who knows how many times he had to use that pistol to defend his life (and our freedom from Germany,Japan or Italy), you might not be here if not for that pistol.

Not enough info..........though I'd not mess with a family heirloom myself.

Thank you all for your input, your wisdom has brought new light to my prized 1911.  I will keep it in the same condition it is.

It's not in need of a touch up, it has history....and I wouldn't even consider screwing with the pistol that brought GrandDad back! Mine was a cavalry man and bugler in WW1....

and here's the pistol my Grandpa Morrison carried as a postmaster in Eastern WA, in the thirties....
