Stopped at a Pawnshop in a small town today just to kill time. I saw a like new Model 59. I had 2 Gen 3 9s but figured a Gen 1 is always desirable. Lacks the rattle that every 39 I've handled." />
Not bad for gun made +\- 1972

I carried one in the early/mid 70s - loved it.

$259, I couldn't pass it up. I've got a plenty of mags that'll fit it but now gonna search for an original. Maybe even some hardwood grips.
P.S. Gotta love the lanyard loop!

Refresh my memory on the difference between the 39 & 59, please?

Think it was an up-dated model, higher capacity double stack magazine.

39 = single stack
59 = double stack
Like the later 3900 series vs the 5900 series.

I really like S&W 39/59 series of pistols but don't own a 59. I remember a friend had a nickeled 59 which really shot good. I never really liked bright nickeled guns but I'd buy that pistol in an instant.

Congrats. The S&W 59 series are my favorite handguns ever.
The 5906 TSW is the most beautiful handgun ever designed and produced.
