I'm trying to decide between the S&W 64 and 67, the 64 has a bobbed hammer. Both are the same price and around the same condition but I'm unsure which will work better. I'm not sure about the sights on the 64 but it looks easier to carry(hammer isn't sticking out) but the 67 has something besides just a notch in the frame for a rear sight.

Any thoughts are welcome.

They are the same gun basically.  The only difference is the sights.  On the 64, they are the fixed type and on the 67 they are the standard K-frame adjustable.  The only other glaring difference between the two pistols is the hammer being bobbed.

Personally I'd go with the 67.  The adjustable sights are nice, and no ones messed with the hammer.  That means you can do some good SA target work with it, and still shoot the crap out of it as a DA gun as well.  Simply put, you can do more with the 67.

If you end up carrying it and you have trouble with the hammer spur, you can always bob the 67's hammer.  So again, you get more to begin with and there are no features on the 64 that you can't have on the 67.

I have  a 64 and 67.  However my 64 is a three-inch barrel and the 67 is four-inch, so they fill two different niches better.

Do not cheap out on these. Get the best grade that you can afford. I have heard reports from a couple of people that bought the lowest grade ("good" i think) and they ended up needing a little smithing in order for them to lock up correctly. As small as the price difference is, get the very good or excellent.

I'd go with the 67.
Here is mine, I like the adjustable sights and the ability to take a SA shot if needed.

Hammer spur or not, if these are the guns from JG sales, they're all double action only.

Learn something new everyday, I didn't know the 67 came in a double action only.

The add states that they were modified to DA only to comply with police regulations

Virtually everything came in a DAO if a distributor and customer wanted to pay for it.

The 4" M66 here is DAO and has a hammer spur. Originally a canadian police gun.
