Well it has been a very long road for this thing to get done, but it finally is.
I bought he thing brand new, and it was a strait shooter, however I was having quite a few failures while firing, and that was not going to do.
Contacted Rocky Mountain Arms about doing some gun smithing work to it, and what started off as just changing a few parts, ended up turning into full checkering, changing a ton of parts, coating of parts, and glass bean media blasting of parts.
A few months back most of the work was done and I posted pictures on a few gun forums to see what people thought before I took delivery of it including this one. Several of the sand blasted parts did not match colors, and the checkering on the front strap was terrible.
I let RMA know about this, and they fixed the checkering, and then blasted the silver parts with some glass bead media I mailed to them to use. It gives a smooth matte finish instead of the rougher finish of the sand media they were using originally. I was e-mailed pictures, and everything looked good, so I took delivery of the gun.
Upon delivery, I took it out to go shooting. The magazines were very tight in the mag well, and one evr had to be pryed out, and the slide stop did not function properly. Also there was a chip on the frame, and a few other issues. Once again, I let them know about this stuff, and mailed it back to them.
After about two weeks of work, I have gotten the gun back, and it is perfect. The coatings are perfect, it shoots perfect, the magazines fit perfectly, and the slide stop finctions perfect. It is a very solid feeling gun as well, and I am very happy.
I have not been the most impressed with the gun smithing of RMAs gunsmiths, however, the owner of the company Bob, has been very helpful, and whenever I raised an issue up with him, it was immedictely addressed. Sure it's better if those issues never arrised, but in the end, all I care about someone working with me, and taking care of me in the end, which he did. Thank you Bob!
The gun is PERFECT, and will go great with all of my other 1911s now =) Here's a few crappy pictures since it's night time of the gun. I'll take better daytime pictures tomorrow to show you what it actually looks like. It is a little dirty after shooting, but whatever! All silver parts are bead blasted exposed stainless steel, the slide is coated black bearcoat, and the frame is coated flat black bear coat. Gonna pump about 1000 rounds through it next weekend.
No flash to show you a little closer to what the gun actually looks like. Still not perfect though with the low light.
As promised, here are the daylight pictures now...
