Special thanks to Bob Miller at www.millercustom.com - I could not be more pleased with my build and overall buying experience.

I was able to make a trip to his shop in Geneseo, IL, check out the options, and pick all my specs.  Here are a few:

- Hard Chrome Finish (Polished Flats and Matted Rounds) by Accurate Plating and Weaponry
- Heinie Magwel
- Diamond Checkering (front strap and magwell)
- Flat Topped Slide with Racing Stripes
- Stan Chen Mainspring Housing
- Kart Barrel and Bushing
- Recessed Cocking Serrations
- Beveling along the bottom of the slide
- "Freedom" Borders
- Flared Ejection Port
- 10-8 Trigger and Rear Sight
- Custom Front Sight with Tritium Insert
- Ball Cuts
- Ambronya Burl grips from Esmerelda

Bob suggested a few nice touches like the serrations on the rear of the slide and the racing stripe pattern on top of the slide.  It shoots like a dream to boot.  I've since added an ambi-safety.  Any thoughts/comments are welcome.

And to think, my first 1911 was a shitty Colt Government Enhanced made in the heyday of Pony abortions.

Awesome first 1911, going to be real hard to top that one. Congrats.

turnaround was a bit over a year.  the cycles seem to run long with full customs, not to mention Bob is also a full time student earning his degree in engineering.  to be fair, he was completely up front with the time-frame for this build

perfection.  Damn, Bob you're really making it hard for me to buy an MSAR (instead of sending more $ your way) when you keep building pistols like that.

Those grips are rediculous looking...more like stone than wood.

Great gun...my first 1911 was a SA Mil-spec...i guess you won that contest.

That is a very elegant looking 1911 and im sure that those looks will prove to be timeless as the years of service go by... Very nice looking 1911!!

Good to see the kind words on another pistol I have done.  They are much appreciated.

The grips are Esmeralda, and I had the chance to refinish them with 5 coats of Polyurethane finish and wet sanded/polished them - and they are some pretty looking grips.

Of course, the cocking serrations stand out, and those as I have said on another recent gun that was published on this site are the results of inspirational work by CT Brian.  I performed the cuts, but Tim graciously agreed to let me borrow the idea.  While I'm on the subject of borrowing ideas, I am working my way out of using ideas from other smiths.  I have a list of work in house that I've accepted with specification of some of the ideas in question.  I will finish orders as made, but I won't be doing those options in the future...these cocking serrations included.

I'll be working on ideas that are commonly used, but developing those features that separate myself from other smiths on the market.  I know that some ideas are used by many and that innovation or being "the first" is a hard thing to do because this model has been customized for the last 100 years, but trying and successful development of new ideas are what separates the masters from regular smiths.

Again, thanks for the comments.

No biggie, I'm waiting three years just for stinkin' knife.
