They took care of me as well, I bought a used Mil-Spec, and it need a little work done to it. I sent it in to them and they did everything I asked and more! All at no charge, The warranty/customer service was one of the reasons I bought a new  XD service in .45. So far, It's been proving itself as a excellant pistol. I am really impressed with S.A. and the XD

Did you send the Gun back to SA to have it Ported ?
I have an XD-40 and have been thinking of getting it Ported to tame the Muzzle Flip.
The Muzzle Flip isn't bad but the Wife says she could shoot better without the Flip.
If you sent it back, how much did it cost to get it Ported ?

No he has a ported model, the slide broke between the ports and SA fixed everything and more. To make your XD ported you need to get a ported barrel and slide OR i've seen a couple ported barrels that extend from the slide and are ported on the exposed portion. I dont know how well they work but i love my ported XD.

Does the Porting Help Tame the Muzzle Flip by 30% or more or at least to what a 9mm feels like ? my Wife loves the XD-40 but I know she would practice more if the Flip was tamed to a 9mm Flip
And I can just buy a Ported Barrel & Ported Slide from SA and there waon't be any Fitting Problems ?
How much Extra is the Factory Ported XD-40 over the stock XD-40 ?
I might need to try and find this if it helps that much
Thank You Very Much

I dont notice much difference in my 4" xd but when i shot a friends 5" it was like a powerful .22lr. On a 40 i can only guess that it would reduce "flip" to that of a 9mm but, hopefully someone who ows one will chime in (you may want to start a new thread). Yes you should be able to just install a new ported slide/barrel. The ported model is only like $40 more.

I have a ported XD40 and love the way it shoots.  I have shot mine side by side with a non-ported XD40 and a non-ported XD9.

The recoil of my ported model is slightly less than a standard 40, but you don't really notice the difference if you are slow firing.  The porting really comes into play when you are rapid firing.  The porting pushes the nose down and allows you to reacquire the target faster.

My two buddies and I tested this extensively and we all get consistent results.  We can rapid fire a shot group the size of a dinner plate at 15-20 feet, but we can shrink that to group the size of your fist.  Its quite a difference.

The ported XD40 does not reduce the recoil to compare to a 9mm.  However, the porting does help a little.  If your wife's problem is definitely from the flip (the pistol twisting in her hand) rather than the raw recoil forces (exterted into her wrists), then the porting would probably help.

With that being said, I would caution against getting a ported model if you plan to use this pistol for home defense.  You must be very aware of where the porting is facing since the jets can send out a nasty flame.  For example, if you were next to a wall and canted the pistol to the side, you can get some gas deflecting off the wall.  You must always be very aware of the direction the top of the pistol is pointed.  This concern can be eliminated with sufficient training.  However, a casual shooter must be reminded to observe saftey rules.

Alway wear eye protection when shooting ported pistols!!!

If you have specific questions please ask and I'll do my best to answer them.
