Ive had the 1911 Bug for quite a while and finally i sat down and figured, hey, ive got some money to throw down on a 1911 so i did. I went ahead and picked up a Stainless Springfield Champion, Loaded. so here i am with this new 1911. Ive put 200 rounds down range with it and i love it already. What im wondering is if there is anytthing specific about 1911s in general or just thing to know about stainless steel pistols ( this is my first one) that i should know about. Pretty much anything thats i should always or shouldnt ever do with it is what im looking for. Ive aready picked up 1 kimber 8rnd magazine bc its all they had at the local sportsman shop and 2 wilson 47Ds that i bought at the range that i go to. Any insight on this kind of stuff would be appreciated Thanks Deer Slayer |

Im starting to learn to shoot with my thumb up like that it just feels a little odd. Anyways the pictured will be up later today, Hopefully from the range or just after because i cant get enough of this gun. Thanks for the info. One other thing is i heard you have to lube stainless pistols a little more than others. Any truth behind this. thanks Deer Slayer |

Congrats on your new pistol. It is a fine looking shooter. I have had a few stainless SA 1911s. Just lube them with light machine oil from time to time. I never have had any function problems do this. I would advise you to buy lots of mags. You don't have to buy them all at once if money is tight. Buy a couple per pay day and before long you will have a nice stack. I have a little over 50 1911 mags.48 of which stay loaded and stashed in a 30 cal ammo can. That sounds excessive until you learn my reason. When I get an opportunity to get some range time, I grab my can and roll on out. When I get to the range, I pop open the can and I am ready to rock. I spend my range time actually shooting instead of reloading the same couple of mags over and over. On really hot days like we are having now, who wants to stand out in the blazing sun stuffing rounds into mags when you could be getting some training. By the time I get through 50 mags, I am usually done. I reload the mags during my off time when I can't be at the range. A few minutes stuffing ammo while I watch TV and I am ready for the next range trip. BTW, A USGI 30 cal ammo can will hold 48 flat bottom 1911 mags with room for cardboard spacers between the layers. |

that actually soudsn like a great idea having the extra mags. I just quite my job for school but now im not going to school away from home so as soon as i can pick up another job for between classes i think ill be picking up some more mags.... Either that or i can just bring my little brother shooting and he can reaload all my mags. haha. Anyways thanks for all the suggestion. keep em comming if theres mere Deer slayer |
