Picked up my first Colt product today. A Colt Gunsite 1911, 5" barrel with a beadblasted finish.

Can't wait to take her out..

I am a member of Ansonia Rod and Gun and live only a few miles from there. I have not shot at High Rock in a few years. I do remember it being packed and having to wait an hours or so to get a lane.

I would love to get a chance to shoot with some fellow Arfcom members.

Sorry to hear about your wait, it's not like that all the time. I went up today and there were 4 people shooting at 2 ports. I shot with a few arf.com member and it was fun. Maybe one day I would meet you up there and shoot that sweet Colt of yours.

Rick,
Sounds like a plan. I am planning on doing some shooting next weekend. High Rock might be the place to go.

Let me know, my email and IM should be turned on though arfcom

Sweet, I need to make note to myself, I must look for one.

Good choice.  They are nice guns.  The only thing I would change is the slim grips.

Awsome first choice. I like that finish.

I don't have a 1911 yet, but I can promise my first one will be from the Colt custom shop.

Nice! I've been eye balling the Colt Gunsight for quite sometime.

The slim grips will be swapped out for a set of regular grips. I think that I will have to replaced the grips, grips screws and grip bushings all at the same time, correct?

I will be following up with w range report.

Just asking -- but why would you change out the grips?  I like the slim grips on my Wilson.

Wilson,
They just don't feel right to me. I have 3 other 1911's and none have the slim grip. Maybe its just that I am not used to them and will grow acustomed to them once I take her out.

I will give them a shot and if I like them, they will stay.

Cool -- just wondering.  I'm not bashing, just was curious is all.

My other 1911s have full size grips and it might make them a bit easier to shoot, but the slim line grips are heaven for CCW I've found.  So much more comfortable.
