I picked up a Springfield Milspec about a month ago, liked it, didn't love it, sold it. It was my first 1911 after years of wanting one. I traded up to a Springfield TRP in Armory Coat. What a world of difference. I can tell that this has been shot a whole bunch, it's in great shape. It does not have a full length guide rod, and there was no explanation why, either way I was going to change it. It was built in 2006, has the older style grips on it, but VZs should be here any day now. The finish is outstanding, I love the look of the semi gloss black, it seems very resilient. I'll order a new spring set for it, just to make sure it's as good as I can get, until then it's shooting straight. Groups were super tight at 15yds, compared to my skills anyway.
I thought I would hate the 20lpi checking on the front strap, that's the only thing I was concerned about, but it is really not that bad. I handled it a lot on the first day, and then shot 100 rounds and it seems normal to me now. My biggest complaint is the word TACTICAL printed on the frame. I could have done without that.
It's a little wet looking in the pic with the flash since I just finished cleaning it. I'll take some better lit pictures when the new grips get here.
