| Does anyone own a Guardian? I am looking for a pocket pistol and am considering one of these in either the .32 or .380 version. I'd like a Seecamp but those seem to be very expensive and a long wait. Thanks. |

I don't own one, but have handled them and read up on them a good bit. There are two different sizes, the larger .380ACP/.32NAA, and the smaller .32ACP/.25NAA. Both are well made, nicely finished pistols with a number of attractive features and options. IMO, the larger model is just too heavy for comfortable pocket use with an empty weight of 18.72 ounces. The smaller frame comes in at 13.57 ounces empty and is smaller - a better choice for pocket carry. The other negative is they tend to have rather stiff trigger pulls - 10.0 pounds or more. Not necessary for safety to be that stiff and a definite impediment to accuracy (an I am not talking about target accuracy either). I eventually came to the conclusion that the Seecamps or Kel-Tecs are better pistols. You can find Seecamp LWS32s on gunsamerica.com for under $300 NIB if you look around. They are smaller in every dimension and have better triggers. The LWS380 will take a long time to get and/or cost you an arm and an ass. Might as well start thinking Rohrbaugh R9 at that point. The Kel-Tecs aren't pretty like the others, but are a lot lighter and thinner than either - a big boon to pocket carry. The triggers run a very reasonable 5-6 pounds. For $240 buy a P-3AT as an interim gun while you are on the waiting list for a LWS380. You may decide it meets your needs and then you can sell the NIB Seecamp when you get it for more than you paid for both pistols! Customer service for all three companies is top shelf from what I have read and/or experienced. Let me know what you end up getting. |
