the new taurus 9mm ultra lite single stack and their tcp 380 are very very nice looking guns.  they willgive kel tec a run for their money with these two intro's.. I like the option of a titanium slide to, any weight reduction sure is nice and the 380 extended magazine for the 380 taurus is a first also.  Kel-tec dragged their feet on ever having one for their 380 and many wanted one. Ruger also.

kudoos to Taurus..

They introduced the 709 at SHOT last year and we haven't seen it yet.  WHo knows when it will actually be available.

I was doing some reading online and supposedly the 9mm is available now.  I haven't seen it anywhere yet though.

The 709 that was introduced last year isnt the same as the one at the 09 shot show, looks much better.

The TCP looks really good also. As does the NEW 2045, and the compact/little Judge.

How about their attempt to jump on the LCP P3AT wagon? Anyone have a pic of that?

I never really loved the look of the old 709 design . . .

. . . but the final design is looking pretty good!

Here's the official write-up:

"The SLIM, available in 9mm, features a short, crisp single action/double action trigger pull, included 7+1 and 9+1 (extended magazine) shot capacity magazines and low-profile fixed sights for easy and comfortable concealment carry . . . Lean and lightweight in design the pistol weighs just 19 ounces, measures a mere six inches long and is less than an inch thick. For the ultimate in discrete, concealed carry Taurus offers the SLIM in a titanium slide version, weighing only 17 ounces. Standard features for the SLIM include a visual loaded chamber indicator, new trigger safety, manual safety and the unique Taurus Security System that allows users to securely lock the gun using an inconspicuous key-lock. Available Spring 2009."

"Interesting pics". I'm a fan of Taurus pistols and own three of them. But those are fugly IMO. I'm also a fan of Kahr and own two of those. I won't be selling my CW9 for the Taurus single-stack 9. And it's doubtful I'll be passing on the Kahr P380 for the Taurus 380.

Was all into the "new" 709 until I saw this pic of the left side & safety. Wish they would make it without a manual safety. Oh well, still got my PPS.
