Finnally got it sanded down.

Look at the awesome finish on those internals with just a little degreaser on em

The internal lock mechnisms sitting in that evil hole on the side

Look at that magwell they lef thuge ridges in it to help hold in the mags

and right after these pictures were taken I placed an order to brownells for instant blue and an action kit from cylinder and slide.

then my microscopic 80 series Firing Pin Plunger Spring got snagged on the ejector and flew away.

I had already placed the order now ill haft wait till I get a bigger order together to get the gun back together.

Awesome! Keep the pictures coming! What grit paper did you use on the slide and frame?

You're not done sanding until the "PT 1911" is no longer visible.

Tried its cut through the frame like the serial numbers.

I used 431Q sand paper.

Well Ill agree with you on the quality of parts that went into it, Even Though its operated for a couple thousand rounds without a jam using wilson 47ds.

But the frame is worth saving after a visit from the file, its as solid as imbel forgings come.

I was just displaying some humor.......... I sincerely wish you well with the project and hope it turns out well.

Then I guess you'd better get back to it, then.

Do yourself a favor and just use GunKote on it. Nothing good can come from trying to cold blue a whole slide and frame. Nothing at all.

Cold blue has it's place, but it's not meant to refinish an entire firearm.

I'd opt for Gun Kote over Park myself.

How durable is GunKote?

I sprayed some of my Kimber parts with it, and after CCWing it for a while it tends to wear off.

Would it be possible to get some better (in focus) shots of the internals and the frame with the trouble spots you've identified more clearly visible.?

Check to see if your camera has a macro setting.  That, or back up a little from the subject and shoot the pic.  Then post links to the hi-res images and I can crop them down for you.

Good luck with the project, I look forward to seeing how it turns out.

So does parkerizing and blueing.  Although the paint might not work as well.  Not sure.

If you degrease well, and heat the parts before spraying and bake it the correct temp and time it does alright but to get the best wear you really need to beadblast before you spray the parts.

I've got a powershot.  Just push the bottom of the wheel to the right of the screeen where it displays the flower symbol with MF beside it.  The screen should cycle through Auto-Macro-and Manual for the focus settings.  Put it on macro and take the close up shots.  David
