Need a cheap .357 5 or 6 shot revolver as a bedside (in a Gun Vault) piece, maybe rarely as a concealed carry.  I have a Ruger SP101 with a 3inch barrel and like it, but would like to spend less.

Any suggestions?  Thanks!

Taurus USA-

Some people like to shit on them. I LOVE EM! I have 2 taurus revolvers, a model 94 and a model 44... both function flawlessly. They look like a Smith, have a fairly smooth action, and most have a New in box tag under $400. As some food for thought, here is the next one I'm considering getting:

Model 651 (.357, 5 shot) Double/Single action-- $383     -OR--->

Model 650 (.357, 5 shot) Double Action Only-- $383   -OR, If I'm really in for some debt--->

I also have a GP-100 from Ruger. SWEET GUN. For home defense I'ed say it's a toss up.

Dammit, Forgot my all time favorite-

If you don't mind buying something used. That doesn't mean it's a piece-o-crap, that just means you gotta take a closer look at it.

Try finding a police turn-in gun. The cops have all moved to semi-autos and there were tens of thousands of .357's and .38's that saw tender lovin' care turned-in and sold to civilians.

You can probably find several GP100's that are well under $250 used.  I have passed up several for $230 in the last few months.

Check KY Imports web site for police trade-ins. S&W Model 65s are regularly listed there. Damn fine guns for only $250 or so.
