Looking to pick up a range bag that will hold and protect a couple pistols, 4 or so mags for each, a couple boxes of ammo, and various range tools. What do you use and recommend?
Thanks. |

A great bag for the $ is the Midway range bag. It is well made and HUGE with enough room to carry everything you listed and more.

I've got an excellent one from Bagmaster. Good bag. Two pockets outside, with an inside set up exactly like you're saying. One nice thing is it's available in different colors, doesn't have to be untactical black. It's pretty pricey but it's a good bag. I think Maxpedition has something really close to this as well.
I've used this bag to carry as many as thee full size pistols and an Officer's 1911 plus mags. I carry ammo separately because of a weirdness in Illinois law (actually in enforcement, but that's beside the point). Took a couple phone pictures, but they suck. link |

It has lots of great features and the price is right. |

For a large bag - the Midway is great. For a smaller bag, this one rocks:

Midway had these on sale a few years ago for $30 each, and I bought 2 of them. I almost always take at least 3 pistols with me when I go to the range. These are accompanied by clothes pins, earplugs, cleaning stuff, sight pusher, boxes of ammo and lots of mags. All this shit fits in my Midway range bag. Sometimes it is so heavy I can barely carry it. It comes with a good shoulder strap (I hope your shoulder can take it!) and a brass bag about the size of a small coffee can (I use this to take some extra loose ammo with me because some days I am just not done blasting when my primary ammo runs out) and an inner bag that you can lift out and take with you if you want. I highly recommend this bag. |

I just got my Bailout Bag in the mail on Friday, Great bag for the price. It could be a little wider. My only other criticism is that it shows that you can fit 2 AR15 mags in the front pouches. I had a hard time fitting 2. I jammed 2 in the pouches but it was tough and I know it will be tough to get them back out. LOL But for $20 it is a great bag. Just wish it was about 4 inches wider. |

For those following along at home, I found this video review of the Midway bag on youtube:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HvfVNNQbsyk Here is a review of the bailout bag: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1lk2ZKQUZ9Q Seems a little big for my weekly range trip, so I think I am going to order both the midway bag and a LAPG bugoutbag. Thanks for the advice. |
| One of my range bags says " Black & Decker " and I believe the other has " Bayer Home Defense " stitched into the side. Both will carry ammo, mags, cleaning tools and whatever other little incidentals I have along that day. They are those sturdy canvas bags with all the pockets that tools are sold with. For extra weapons I have the Hard Plastic and foam single pistol and a 4 Pistol Hard Plastic & foam . All goes into a canvas tote ( also with pockets ) with " Motorola" on the side. I look like I'm going to NASCAR not My home range . ......WVleo |
| I have had my Midway range bag for ~3 years now, and use it at least once weekly (sometimes more often). It's held up great over the years and looks as good today as the day it was delivered. Lots of room, lots of individual pockets and it is tough. I would highly recommend this bag. |
| I got a Galati model one years ago and it is finally starting to show its age. The seams are starting to bust and the zippers are failing, but it has been used hard and often and I feel I got my monies worth out of it. I have been wanting to get one of the Midway ones when they pop up on sale. |
I bought an Uncle Mikes Deluxe Range Bag from Sporstmans Warehouse a few years ago and it's been a damn good bag, maybe a little smaller than the Midway, but still a very handy, well built bag.
Mine is Ranger Green though. |

Got one of those Uncle Mike's bags also. It is kind of smallish but still nice. |

CountyComm bailout bag works well for me in almost identical scenario as the OP's

| +1 for the Midway. I have used/tried a number of bags and have settled on the Midway. It is a large bag and well built. If carrying one pistol, might be a bit of overkill, but if shooting a couple and a pact timer, glasses, magazines, ear muffs, water bottle, towel, etc...it can't be beat for the price. And they are really cheap when they go on sale! |

Am I the only person who uses a gym bag? I know it doesn't keep everything nice and neat but it holds it all and is cheap. I generally use a baseball bag, and inside I pack stuff in buttpacks. I can throw in my carbine cases, pistol cases, ammo, etc, with room to spare. Reasonably priced at a local used sporting goods store, and I only have one trip to make from the truck to the firing line... |

While I think it may be a bit smaller than the Midway bag, it still very easy to pack with so much stuff that the damn thing is very heavy. |

I orderd my Midway bag last week, it was till on sale. I got it today and, like the others said, it's huge. I love that it has enough space for everything I'll need for the range. It seems well constructed and has so many different pockets, compartments and pouches. It seems very well thought out. It's hard to believe that there is a better bag at this sale price. |
