Ok I live in MI and own a 1911 with accurails on it. To my dismay when I field stripped it today I bent one of my accurails out away from the frame slightly. So I tried to re bend it into the proper location and the darn thing broke off!!

Where would I be able to find another set of accurails and get them without the $300 gunsmith charges?

There is a place in Rochester MI that wants $215 to install a set, but like I said all I need is a replacement rail and to drop it in the place of the current on. Any advice would be appreciated!!

Give Bob Kreiger a call. He's the originator of Accu-Rails and may now be sole source. I had him do a set for me a few months ago, and the work is perfect.
I'm guessing you could just send him the broken rail, he could measure it, and supply a perfect fitting replacement at minimal cost.
Google his stuff or see his ad in American Handgunner for contact info.

Let us know.

the only accurail dealer I can find at this time is Doug Jones. I called an left a voicemail with him and since he is local I can take the broke ones in and have him match em up.

As for machining the notch for the slide stop that is minor I can measue it and hit it up with a endmill at my college.

I will post up the info when I gain it.

What happened was a minor assembly without the slide attached to see the barrel held in place when I removed the slide stop it broke withouot me realizing that it was retained behind the rail. So it is my mistake and noobness of wanting to know how things worked that broke it!!

Well Great news!!

Doug Jones from Accurail Hooked me up with fixing my rails today!(only $35 for the rails not 215 as quoted on his website) Honestly I am very impressed with his level of professionalism. BTW he is the one that did the original work to the pistol.

He went above and beyond what I expected, He oiled the parts that needed to be kept oiled and pretty much did a service to me by making it so the mainspring housing does not have to be removed to dis-assemble the firearm (remove mainspring housing) to oil and lube the nec. parts to keep it in working order (to remove the pinned grip safety). He even performed a basic function test without charging me anything above the cost of replacement rails!!!!!
I learned alot about my pistol from him in terms of mait. and proper oiling/lubing!

Was stunned to see the name BOB Krieger and Doug Jones on the door, Knew it was the right place from the post I had from you earlier about it.

When I first bought the pistol there was slight wear but now the rails make it feel like the slide is a piece of the frame.
