I have a Blackwater 226 that I want to get a light for.  I was leaning towards the Streamlight TLR series but their website states that there will be damage to the finish to both the pistol and the light.  Anyone have any experience with this ? Should I expect finish wear from whatever light I go with?  There only seem to be 3 real competitors, Surefire (been using their flashlights for years), Streamlight and Insight.
Can anyone offer preferences or pros/cons for the lights they chose?
I ruled out the sig light because I don't care for the button set up they have.
Thanks

I have a Streamlight TLR1 on my Sig P220R.  As long as you use the correct insert (the 1913) insert, and keep it tight, it is not going to damage your frame one iota.  I've got a few hundred rounds through my P220R with the light on it and not one problem with wear.

In fact, once you install the light on the Sig rail, and look at it from the muzzle end, the top of the body of the light doesn't even touch the bottom of the rails.  The clamps holds the light on, and the plastic 1913 insert fits into one of the slots assuring it won't move back and forth.  It has a very solid lock up once the screw is tightened.

One thing I did do was cut thin strips of electrical tape and put them over the lips of the TLR1 so that the tape acts as a barrier between the clamp lips and the rail grove.

Edit:  I just took this photo.  You can see how the top of the body of the light does not even contact the bottom of the rail.  There is no way for the light to work up and down since the clamps lock it in place.  The insert prevents any back and forth movement.  (If you look closely, you can see the little strips of tape I cut to prevent any metal-on-metal contact - though I don't think it was necessary.

Thanks for the info.  That is a good idea adding a small layer to protect the finish.
