So, I purchased my first Glock a few weeks ago, a 26.
I also purchased a set of TFO's for it. I did a lot of research and spoke with some members here.
THIS is where I started.
So long story short:
My first set of TFO's did not install correctly. They were VERY loose.
They could be moved side to side and up and down considerably.
Thinking it was an issue with the sites, I sent them back and got another set.
They came in yesterday and I went to get them installed. To my amazement the second set was also VERY loose.
My gunsmith was stumped. He was convinced it was the sites again.
So, I asked him to try them on another 26 for shits and giggles. Wanna guess what happened next?
The sites installed properly. He actually had to use a FS press to put it in the hole like the directions recommend.
Apparently every time he tried mounting them om my slide the TFO would just drop right in, no press needed.
He didn't have to use a press at all. Now, when he tries it on another 26 and then a 27 they fit perfectly.
So, back to today. I call Glock and they say for me to send the slide only to them in an envelope, they will try installing the sites.

Here are my questions:

1. Can I just send a slide, no BBL or spring with out a FFL?
2. If when they find out it is milled incorrectly what then? I can't have a new slide, because my numbers won't match, right?
3. Should I include a copy of the shipping for them to cover?

So what do you guys think?

1.) Yes you can.
2.) It is okay if the slide number and frame number don't match. It might hurt the resale value, but besides that, not a big deal.
3.) I don't know.

I bet they can help you out. I had a SIG 226 that had a rear sight that slid right out (ask me if I tug on them in the shop now) and after sending it back to SIG it is O.K. I think they might have a way to tighten them up like the do with frame rails on some guns.

Ok, so from the sounds of it I'll send it back and see how they do.
I just don't want two different serial numbers. We'll see what they have to say.

The only part that needs an FFL to transfer is the frame, the slide doesn't matter

You can send your firearm out to be serviced(even the frame) and it can be sent back to your house so long as ownership does not transfer to another person.
