I have a S&W M17-3 K22 Masterpiece, and I was trying to get a date on it. Serial number is 8K71XXX. Thanks!

Dash-3's were made from 1967 until the dash-4's in 1977, FWIW. Can't help you on the S/N, sorry.

Don't have my book handy but an 8K should be early to mid seventies. My 5K Model 67 is a 1972 and as I recall they were numbered in the same sequence.
