I'm replacing the ILS on my SA so I'm replacing the firing pin too.  Do I need the XP firing pin spring Wilson Combat sells?  Also, will the Ed Brown Hardcore pin work or do I need their cheaper line pin?  Descrtiption says it's for 9, 38, 45 Springfield.  The Hardcore pins just say all 1911's.

The standard Ed Brown and Wilson Combat stuff is not as high quality as the Bulletproof and Hardcore parts line. You really don't need an extra power firing pin spring. The standard one should work fine, unless, of course you have fired a lot of rounds and need to replace the recoil spring.

Springfield uses a proprietary sized firing pin which is almost identical to a .38 Super firing pin. You should use one made for a Springfield but I've seen a lot of .38 Super firing pins installed in Springfields.

Looks like I need the proprietary pin, the Brown Hardcore I got is a bit too long.

I did the ILS replace on my SA GI Champion.

I replaced the MSH with a Flat one - standard MSH internal parts and Spring.

I did NOT change out the FP or spring , and have had no problems.

I'm gonna try it with the stock pin/spring this weekend.  Hell, if it works I'll probably just shoot it until it breaks.

you dont need a new FP when you get rid of the ILS.
