New Beretta rimfire - B22 Jaguar (Page 2 of 2)
|
I talked to a guy today who was at SHOT range day. He said the new Beretta 22 Jaguar we were all talking shit about was actually really nice, superior to the Ruger MK4 or S&W Victory in his view. Said it ran very well with a can. And while the competition model with the imo hideous comp and thumb rest and bizzare color scheme looks awful, the normal black version actually looks pretty good. With it now confirmed to take 15rd magazines, I actually think the B22 Jaguar might be the most significant pistol released at this years SHOT show. The .22 pistol market is a much smaller world, and so if the B22 runs, this could be a huge player. You're getting the 15rd firepower of the TX22, with potentially equal or better performance then the Ruger/SW pistols, at 1/2 the cost of a Volquarsten Black Mamba. And then on top of that this is the year of the suppressor.... $25 15rd mags https://blackmarketarms.com/magazines/unsorted/beretta-magazine-b22-jaguar-22lr-15rd-blued-steel

For the price, it better be a ton better in many ways. |

That will remain to be seen, but hopefully we see higher level of reliability and better trigger then the factory 22/45, so no need to add Volquarsten parts. Plus 15rd mag gives the fun factor of tx22 with accuracy of a fixed barrel target gun. If we get a 80% Black Mamba with TX22 capacity, for 1/2 the cost of the Black Mamba, that would be dope. Fingers crossed. |

Since the kit was unobtanium, why bother buying a funny looking pistol? |

Another video about it...![]() Beretta's New 22LR B-22 Jaguar Rimfire Competition Pistol | SHOT Show 2026 Nothing really new except the rep does indicate that other variations and barrel lengths, as well as extended mags are in the pipeline. |

That sounds very promising, although I wonder what they could really do in terms of barrel length. With the MLOK chasis/handguard type configuration, can't easily go much shorter, and 5" + red dot era, going much longer doesn't make sense unless its for a country with a barrel length law. Although, perhaps they plan to resurrect the 'carbine conversion kit' concept; that could explain why the upper has MLOK rails, which otherwise seem incomprehensible as to their use. ![]() Could be a stock that goes onto the grip frame in lieu of the normal grips, paired with longer barrel upper. Not sure there's a big market for that sorta odd job but its a possibility.

Looking at the barrel from the side, it doesn't seem centered in the little mlok 'handguard' - barrel looks like its closer to the top rail then the bottom. So that might stymie getting a suppressor under the handguard. |

Guess it depends what street price comes out to though. I remember buying a 22/45 lite in 2022 for $350, had no idea they jumped in price all the sudden. |

Also interesting they marked the bolt "22LR" which makes me think other calibers may be on the horizon? I like this all black with the TK add-ons as well. If it's priced right, I might pick one up. My MKIV is set up for competition right now, but I wouldn't mind moving back to a suppressed pistol setup if I can get one of these to fill the role. |

People *love* to talk about "special" deals. Well I was pretty clear in the first place that you’d be better off paying more for the Volquartsen. But also a quick guns deals search shows several places with Volquartsens under $1,400. When I bought mine new a couple years ago those same prices were there so it’s not really any sort of special deal. $1,200 for the Beretta vs $1,350 for a Black Mamba. I think it’s an extremely clever choice to save another $150 for the Black Mamba unless the mag capacity is make or break. |

MSRP for the competition one is around $900 zone, so probably end up closer to $700-$800 vs $1300 street for Black Mamba. Black Mamba wayyyy more aesthetic and probably better trigger, but B22 has 15rd mags which many will find compelling. I say this as a recent Black Mamba purchaser. |
| I'm a little surprised nobody here has compared to Kel-Tec's CP33 on looks alone. I ended up w/ one of those on a friend's review, pretty fun w 50 rd mags but feels like a toy and looks like the cover of an Alien movie. I like Beretta .22s - the bobcat 21a's are fun, feel and look quality, mine have run fine, though 100+ mags is useful...and sure only need a 15-foot range. The 92-22 is nice for newer or younger shooters, there were incredible prices and rebates on both for a while. As others have written here, I'd be hard pressed to choose this Beretta over a Volquartson. It seems good for overall support of the shooting sports industry, all these wild 22lr pistols. I like options. |

I'm all for more choices though. I hope they're shooters and make people happy. |

Name me another full size rimfire pistol with all metal construction, 15+rd capacity, fixed treaded barrel, optics ready and easy toolless takedown? You can't because no other gun exists with those specs. People are getting too hung up on the looks and raging about it without even bothering to learn anything about it. I get that its not going to win any beauty contests but I don't generally buy guns based solely on their looks. YMMV? |
