Hi all, new to Kahr pistols and this part of AR15.Com.

I am now the owner of a new CW40 and would like to dis-assemble, clean and oil before taking out for the first time.   After reading and following manual I am unable to get slide to come off of frame as it sounds like it should. So far I have:

Cocked slide
Removed slide stop
Pulled trigger to release action

At this point the slide will move about 1/2" forward and then lock up.  I can re-assemble and make function.  If I fail to cock slide before trying to remove slide stop I cannot get slide stop to move out of frame.

Just getting to know things and have not put much force to anything yet, figure I must be missing something.

Any advice appreciated.

First ensure weapon is unloaded, then ensure weapon is unloaded, then dry fire weapon. Pull slide to rear, making sure not to "charge" weapon, until hash mark on slide matches up with mark on frame, remove slide stop, pull trigger and remove slide.

Profit???????

Able to dissassemble,  was missing detail of pulling trigger while sliding slide forward.   Shot about 75 rounds FMJ and 6 JHP with no issues.

Mostly satisfied, only complaint is magazine release button must be pushed deeply in before magazine comes free.  Have many other pistols and this one is the only one that makes magazine removal anywhere near this hard.   Is there any cure for that complaint ?

Again, thanks for any input.

Glad to help with the disassembly. Can't help with the mag release my CW9 is just fine. Maybe the .40 S&W is different. I have heard that some people have had problems out of the MK40s breaking the magazine follower on the last round if they limp wrist.

The magazine release on my CW40 was a little tough when I first got it but I don't even notice it anymore. My wife was complaining about it just yesterday and that was the first time she had shot it. So I suspect you will get used to it.
