Are the new Colt 1911's a good solid platform for a build like they used to be ??

Two that catch my eye are the Series 70 and the lightweight Commander ...

Most definitely.

They're cranking out some good looking pistols with their new CNC machines.

My new New Agent has restored my faith in Colt. The new ones are good to go.

Of course, they can still be improved in little ways.
