Just ordered a FNP-45. I will probably be getting it by tomorrow. Any comments/good/bad experiences with the FNP-45?

I have nothing but praise for this gun. It does everything as good or better than any gun I've ever shot, while providing the features I really needed and wanted.

It's perfect.

Yeah, I hope your trigger makes the gun go bang when you pull it back, instead of on the way back.

+1

It shoots only a small hair under my much more expensive H&K USP's. Damn fine gun!

It is a great gun, I drive around with one in my truck and carry occassionaly at work  Mine eats everything I throw at it and is very soft shooting among all my .45's in comparison.  All in all, one of the best .45 caliber handguns on the market, its a shame its not more popular.

Don't like the slide release on it.

A buddy has one.  Those with with sensitive office hands might be bothered by the cheese grater like texture of the grips, which are designed to work well with gloves.  Other than that it's accurate and seems reliable.  There's not much not to like.

I had the same issue when I first pick it up and played with it.

If you manually rack it and lock it back is hard to release the slide with the slide lock.
But while shooting, if the gun runs dry the slide lock will work fine as a slide release.

I hope that made sense.

I have tried mine and found it to be an excelent gun. Recoil is a joke... feels like shooting a 9mm..

I ended up putting a Hogue grip wrap on it due to the aggressive texture. Made the grip a bit fatter but more comfy and didn't effect the way I shot it. Very accurate pistol and has been totally dependable. The ONLY thing I don't like it with mine, the mags don't like to drop free with the slide locked back. The 14rd mags seem to be the worst.

I read about this in another thread. It's not a slide release. It's a slide catch. According to the manual you should rack the slide to release it.

I love my fnp45tac. I'm only 300 rounds into it so far but it's eaten everything I've fed it and done so very accurately and comfortably. Definitely happy I chose it over the HK.

did you need a recoil booster with the FNP?

I'm frustrated with the lack of aftermarket accessories and options... and having to order parts from FNHUSA directly. I like to order parts for different guns at one time to save on shipping. I had Talon Tactical make me a custom OWB kydex holster but that involved two 100mi round trips.

I'd also like some Trijicon sights (not Ameriglo) but they aren't available.

Well, what I wonder is why don't they make all FNP's now with the RMR mount space like the tacticals?  Seems like the tacticals really don't give so much more over the regular FNP 45's to justify nearly twice the cost.

except for the milled slide...the red dot night mounts, the high profile Trijicon night sights, the longer threaded barrel, the four (2 styles, 2 textures) back straps, the nice carrying case for the pistol, red dot sight, silencer and magazines, there may be more...you're right...not much difference......I would imagine they don't mill the slide for the red dot on all FNP-45s because of the cost/need balance...YMMV

Sounds like he's asking if you need a nieslen device to use it with a silencer. Although, I don't think anywhere in this thread a silencers been mentioned.

Rocksarge, if you're interested in running one with a can ask over on silencertalk, theyd be the most helpful.

There are not many. But there is more then one.

Bladetech: this is a open top, positive retention only, external belt paddle/belt mounted holster. Comes in the FN "Shooters Kit"

Crossbreed Holsters offers IWB and OWB holsters

Safariland offers the 6005 holster for dutybelt/dropleg. Fullsize retention holsters for police and military

Raven Concealment has wide variety of fine OWB and IWB kydex holsters.

Which Bladetech holster specifically.  All I can find is one's for FNH P45's.
Will this work?
Looking for a belt mount and can't find any of the shooters packs anywhere.

From what i understand, you have to kind of custom order it, just specify that you have the FNP45 tactical with the threaded barrel and they will make it for you.

I knew about the Bladetech, the safariland last i looked was no where to be found. And didn't know about the rest.

And the crossbreed it's nice to have the option, but who is going to concealed this thing? If you can, more power to you.

My FNP-45 USG is my favorite pistol and my go to gun.

Complaints? I would like an extended magazine release button. I would also like a serpa holster to be made for it.

I had a problem with the back of the safety lever rubbing against my second thumb knuckle. It would wear through the skin and eventually draw blood. I talked to one of the FN reps at SHOT last year and he knew exactly what I was talking about. A little very careful love with the dremel to take down that edge did the trick. Solved the problem 100%.

I have had mine for just over two years (FN45 decock only two tone).

I have had several failures, some I traced to a cause, some I just cleared the gun and kept shooting.

Magazines are tough to load but no where near impossible.

Great sights––some of my favorites on any pistol I own.

I love the decock only feature.

I like the 14 round magazines better––less bulky.

Either backstarp works fine for me.

Feels only VERY slightly blocky––MUCH less than a USP.

Wadcutters and semi wadcutters do not work very well in mine.

My magazine release KIND OF works from left to right, but not as good as from right to left.  I find the slide lock control difficult to use left handed.

I have a documented 466 rounds through it.  I used to shoot it a lot, but then I got my HK45 and I have been shooting that more, recently.

Almost as accurate as my GSR 1911 in my hands, and equal to my HK45.
