Picked up a new Gen3 G19 yesterday. Only my second Glock and second plastic gun. Had a G23 for a couple years, but never warmed up to .40 and eventually sold that one. Have owned pretty much every manner of pistol....many 1911's, Sigs, Beretta and others. Always thought I might get another Glock and the G19 would be the one.
Anyway, went to my LGS and received the pistol. Did the paperwork, applied a little oil on the rails and stepped out back to the range. Put about 200 rounds through it. Combination of 115gr range ammo (Magtech), Win NATO 124gr ball, and two mags of PD stuff (Rem Golden Saber 124gr +P and Win Ranger-T 147gr EXT). Gun performed without a single issue. All rounds fired at 25' from target. Very consistent patterns and dead on accurate. Had to concentrate a bit to get used to the trigger, but no problem. Very happy with the gun. One question....got home and gave it a good cleaning. After swabbing the barrel I noticed that the rifling seemed very shallow. I can see it, but just doesn't seem to be cut as deeply as other pistols I'm familiar with. Maybe just me. Glock thing? Apparently not an issue as the performance was more than satisfactory, but I wonder what the life of the barrel might be with such light rifling. |

If you find pinching the slide lock to remove the slide difficult you might want to look into a Lone Wolf Distributor Extended Slide Lock Lever |

Pretty boring That's the whole G19 thing . People will scream but the trigger and sights are reasonable out of the box , they fit most hands and work well with most any ammo and are reasonably accurate even for most folks even those without lots of experience. Small enough to carry but large enough to shoot decent. Yes I eventually swapped out some trigger parts and sights but although those things make it a bit easier for me to shoot well the difference isn't huge. As others have said the Glock rifling is different , works great with jacketed and plated bullets , if you want to run cast lead best bet is a aftermarket barrel. So simple it makes folks who insist on messing about with their guns crazy but it works and if way down the line anything happens to it Glock has a reputation of taking care of you |
