So I went to the local gun shop and got a brand new G17 with trijicon nights sights and 3 17 round magazines. I got it all for $500 after taxes. How did I do?

This is my first handgun and I am really excited to shoot it. I didn't need the gun until this summer when I go to skills for LE, but I thought I would get a jump start on it.

You did great! It sounds like you purchased an LE model for the price of a standard Glock.

Now shoot the piss out of it and enjoy!

Yes, welcome to the Dark Side.  You got a good deal.

I'm carrying my G17 right now.  Love it.  You'll love yours too.

Awesome, I am even more excited to shoot it now. I have 400 rounds and a trip planned to the range for tomorrow. I work as an EMT so I was able to get the LE discount price.

Those of you that carry the G17, is it easy to conceal or is it a little big?

This G17 definitely is a good partner for my Kel-tec Sub2000.

A good holster and a belt will help with concealing it. I carry a Glock 22 everyday concealed. You may have to dress around it a little more than say a 26, but I would definitely rather have that 17 vs a 26 in a fight.

 Good deal.

No problem to conceal at all.  I do it everyday.

It does depend on your dress, I suppose.  I use a Desantis belt (1 3/4 inch) and a Galco Combatmaster, OWB.  Works great.

If greater concealment is needed, there are many good "tuckable" IWB holsters that work well.  Ultimately a belly band can do the trick as well.
