Does anyone have a GI Champion 4" that can give me some feedback on it?  Looked at one today for $518 (park finish) and almost dropped the trigger on it, or credit card .

This would be my entry to the 1911 world and I am not looking for some tricked out race gun at the moment.  They had plenty there in the $800-1000 range, but I just don't want to spend that much on something I haven't tried out before.   I'm new to 1911's but not CCing or shooting.  I have a duty gun and am thinking about the above for just a range toy and sometimes CCing.

My brother had a Colt 1911 with competition sights.  I loved that pistol but he sold it long ago.

What say you guys

Don't have a Champion, but have several other SA full-size models.  Have almost bought one several times, but got distracted by something else I didn't need. From everything I've read, you wont be disappointed, and the SA customer service is alleged to be unbeatable.

I have the stainless Loaded Champion with the 4" bushingless bull barrel. It has been 100% reliable so far and has digested all types of ammo without a hiccup. I'm not really into stainless pistols, but the price was right on this one so I couldn't resist. It's a very accurate, well-balanced piece and I do not regret the purchase in any way.
