I have the USP40 full size gun.  Great shooter. Inside the polymer frame (where the spring/bushing resides)and just above the serial # block there is bare metal showing.  Is this normal?  It looks like it connects the metal serial # block to the frame.  Also, is it ok to dry fire the gun? Thanks.

Congrats on your USP, You will love it !!
I have two USP's, both in .45, one compact one fullsize and both have the shiny little metal looking spot. I wondered what it was and just assumed it was part of the serial number below it.

Dry fire away, but if you do it as much as I do.......30 minutes per day of aiming, and dry firing at Bart Simpson...... buy some snap caps.
