What with tax season coming around again I'm looking at using part of my refund to get a new handgun. I've got a 92FS, M&P, M&P 9c, and XD Service in 9mm. So I'm good for modern handguns. Looking to do something a little more throwback and fun. I've been looking at the new Commander lenght Rock Island 1911s in 9mm, had a full sized awhile back and liked it, got rid of it when I heard these were coming out. The other option is a Smith and Wesson Model 67 in .38 Special. I can get a lightly used one for about $595 here so price wise they're about the same. I was a Security Forces guy in the Air Force before I got off of active duty and worked mostly northern teir bases, so if I got this one I'd probably kit it out like the old SAC Elite Guard pistols. Leaning towards the Model 67 right now cause of the history behind it and I don't have any wheelguns and will probably grab one of hte 1911s once they're out in the future. Kinda intersted in what somebody who's owned one of the old 9mm Commanders from RIA or Model 67s thinks of them too.
So I guess the question is Model 67 or 9mm Commander 1911 for just a toy. What does the hive thing? |
