I Picked up a M&P Pro Saturday.
There are a few noticeable differences between it and the othen M&Ps that I have
First the finish seems to be the same spray on finish that is on the new M&P magazines. My guess is the finish is CeraKote (which I like)
It has entirely different sights. The front site is a green fiber type while the rear is a plain flat bladed type with no serrations or pocket cuts. I think it is a big improvement over the POS rear they have been using.
The Pro came with a very nice 5lb trigger pull with a short reset.
The sear in the pistol looks different than either the blued of stainless ones they have been using. They sear looks to be machined rather than a cast part also.

I have shot a couple hundred rounds through it with one possible malfunction. I had a failure to fire with federal 115gr ball. The round had no primer hit so I really don't know what that was about.
I think the Pro will be real popular in IDPA and USPSA so I expect to be making a lot of M&P Pro holsters once the pistol is readily available

Here are some pics

Nice gun overall, but those sights don't look particularly good. No serrations on the rear or white outline dots, and something about that front sight just looks kinda globby or something.

at least in my opinion (actually a lot of high speed shooters opinion) Rear sights should be plain. White outlines or dots only draw your eyes to the rear sights. while what you want is to be drawn to the front sights.

See sights such as Warren or 10-8 which are very popular with serious shooters.

What you should do to evaluate sights is to have several identical pistols with different sights all shot at varying  distances by capable shooters using a timer and record and compare the results.
At least that is how we do it.
A lot of things in shooting look good until you break out the timer!

Mike,

Looks like you changed the grips out.  What did you put on?

Also any idea what the differences are between the Pro and the M&P9L (Longslide)?  I know the 9L has a 5" barrel.

I presently have the M&P .45 and really like it.  I was looking for a 9L but maybe the Pro is the way to go.

Edit:  I looked around the web a bit.  It looks like the PRO has the special sights and a performance center 4-5 pound trigger.  The 9L has regular sights and a 6.5 pound trigger.  I'm leaning towards the Pro.

The "pro" model has the sights pictured and that sweet Performance Center sear package. That sear gives a trigger that is almost as good as a nice 1911 trigger.

Seriously.

It's the best feature on the gun. S&W should just sell the mother frackin' PC sears already so the rest of us can upgrade all of our other M&P pistols.

A friend won one at an IDPA a few months ago.  I shot it last month.  Pretty nice.  Trigger reset seemed long but no big deal.  He said he's going to use it for stock service.

the grip is TruGrip from WWW.trugripusa.com

You heat the stuff up with a heat gun of hair dryer and put it on the pistol and it is on fro good (or at least a year for me)
