So recently purchased a PX4 for my wife to carry and am having some trouble with a few things, hoping you can direct me the right way.
1st, looking for a OWB "range" holster for the gun, I personally love Serpas, but they are not made for the PX4...in fact I can't find hardly any that are besides a Fobus...eww (but I guess if I have too :-( ) and a few $80 custom holsters. My wife will be taking a handgun class that will require a holster, and I just hated to go Fobus, but considering this is probably the only time she will be wearing OWB, I can't see spendin a ton. Suggestions? BTW need a double magazine holder too... 2nd, so I realize the not fitting many rounds easily into the magazines is a fairly common, if not disapointing, problem with the PX4. I have also seen about using the 92fs mags. So A. where can I find this mystery thing to be able to use the 92fs magazines, B. will the 20? round mecgar type magazines help make loading more rounds easier? C. Any suggestions for this? We have a Maglula Uploader but even with it loading these magazines is a pain!! Thanks! |
| Can't help with the second question –– but for the first, try www.wrbusa.com. If you email them at the address on the main page, Bill will get back to you pretty quickly about which size will fit the PX4. If they don't have the right size, they may even make one for you –– he's doing exactly that for me, since I wanted a pocket holster to fit my Browning BDA-380 (which is basically a Beretta 84B, hence me surfing this forum) and they don't make them normally. They also have mag holders as well... |

just an FYI for the holster for the class. i would ask if they require an covered trigger and or hammer snaps.
with regards to the mags, why dont you get some mag loaders? it makes easy work of them and the price arent that bad. there are several different types out there the one you have isnt that bad, but there are: > the glock style where a cap slides over the top. you need something to press down on to make it work. > the HKS style. where is like a pistol grip and you squeeze. if you have diffferent guns you may need several. > the Mantis. its like a clip that clips on the side and you use your thumb/finger to feed the rounds. Its small and if your mags are too wide, it could break. Ive modifed them to use on my CZ kadet and other 22LR mags since the gap between the feed lips is narrorwer then CFs. you just need to try different ones. I have all of them and found that i like the Mantis and the Glock style. |
| As far as using 92FS mags in a PX4 I am unaware of any way to do it. The CX4 carbine can use standard 92FS mags if equipped with the proper adapter, but to my knowledge, no such thing exists for the PX4. After you have loaded and unloaded your factory mags seceral times the springs should ease up a bit and make loading to full capacity a little easier. |

Not sure what a "range" holster is, but I got a clip on waist band reversible black nylon holster from Desantis Smiths out of New York, with an add on retention strap for about $40 plus 13 for the strap. Including shipping it was $80 or so. They have a couple of other products for the PX4 if you didn't want that type. That was the cheapest holster I could find for it.
http://www.desantisholster.com/storefrontB2CWEB/browse.do?action=refresh_browse&ctg_id=59 There is an insert for the mags that makes them take the 92. I think it's a "gunsmith item" not a "workshop" conversion though. The early PX4s were shipped without the mag loader, later ones had it included. (Mine came in the box.) Try contacting Beretta USA to see if they'll send you one. Someone mentioned a while back it was sent free. Since I have had about 30 mag cycles through each of mine, the springs have lightened up considerably. You could also try modifying them by cutting or bending. But I expect with use they will loosen up. I have not heard anybody say anything about it needing such a strong spring so maybe it's just time and use. There are after market mags out there that might be better. (No direct experience.) |

For $48 this is a great leather holster. I have one for my PX4, and also two of my Sigs (P229, P239).
