Been wanting a 4" in 9mm. RO Champion fit the bill. $750 at LGS. Already does some mods to it:

Swapped to red fiber front
blacked out rear sight dots
Added VZ grips in Dark Cherry
Polished screws
added some grip tape to the front strap and bottom of trigger guard for weak index finger reference point
rubber tape to bottom of mags for easier seating (will get some real extended bases soon)
Polished ramp
deburred safety edge
added wilson extended slide release

I ran about 100 rounds thru it in my backyard range yesterday. all factory shot fine. a few of my reloads hung up in the chamber. i will polish it out and ream if necessary. reloads were 115 lead, 125 gr coated, 254 gr HP, 148 HP.

I also want to do some work on the trigger. im used to a sub 3# custom trigger job on my other 1911s. what would everyone recommend replacing?

course i had to take a glamour shot:

Your grip tape looks better than mine.  ROC in 45, that thumb safe was a sharp mofo so i worked it.

I'm pretty happy with mine. My only complaint is the factory mags often don't lock back after the last round. No issues with Tripp mags or Metalform 9-round mags.  Oddly enough, the one Wilson mag I bought for it had feeding issues with factory FMJ. But I've only taken it out once. I may just need to be broken in a bit.

You're not kidding about that! First thing I did was to smooth the rear corner of the safety with a file. Much better now.

One thing, you can get 10-round Tripp 9mm mags for it. Call or email them and they will trim the front of the basepad for the Officers model. It keeps you from over-inserting and eventually breaking your ejector off.

Shown below with a couple of 9-round mags, and a factory 8-rounder for comparison. I've since added a magwell and some VZ grips.
