Bought a NIB Colt Delta Elite in stainless.
It's perfect and I'm wondering if I should keep it NIB. Will this one appreciate like a collector item should/could? |

It may. It may not. Personally, I invest in stocks, bonds, and commodities. Collectibles enjoy a decent rate of return, if you speculate correctly. However, you miss out on the pleasure of actually using the item.
Stocks offer a tax advantage over collectibles, also. I have some indadvertent collectors items. I shoot them. Now, the doll collection I inherited from my mother has probably increased in value since 1993. I don't play with dolls, much. Some day, some one will sell them for a nice profit, probably to help pay the death tax on my estate. If you are a collector, collect. If you are an investor, invest. |

I was going to buy one in 'blue' to use... |

What's enjoyment worth? If you maintain the DE, keep all of the paperwork and box you'll help yourself on resale after shooting it for years. You might even break even on the deal!
If it's a new production gun, you'd have to sit on it for years in new condition for it to appreciate and it wouldn't do nearly as well as a 401K. I'd say shoot it, or keep it new and trade it for something collectible, like a Radom, or a Luger, 3rd gen Colt SAA, Flattop Ruger or whatever with proper provenance and inspected by a knowledgeable gun collector. |

I have an extensive Class 3 collection and don't need another collectible...so I'll take the advice and shoot the hell out of the bitch. |
| What is the point of a gun if it sits in a safe and you only bring it out to show people. Then they ask have you ever shot it and then you say no it is a collectible then they look at you funny as you wipe it down to put it back in your safe. You never enjoy the thing if it just sits in a safe I have class 3 items and hell I use them for what they were intended to do shot the hell out of them. |

I just got done cleaning the Uzi and the LWRC M6A2 w/RDIAS that I shot the hell out of at the range today. We were standing in a pile of brass! I've shot every gun I've ever owned up to this Colt so I was just wondering about it before taking it out. Like most, I have plenty of weapons to shoot so I asked the hive about 'Collection Value' on the Delta Elite. Now the only reason I haven't shot it is I've been shooting the SMG's every chance I get. I'll pop its cherry this Saturday AM...with some Double Tap |

I had an original blued one bought nib. I shoot it very little. Nice enough gun though. When I sold it the fact I had shot it wasn't a big deal. No one seemed to care. It was the fact I had replaced the $13 sights for novaks that got peoples panties in a bunch.
So with that in mind go a head and shoot away. |

It's because of this mentality, that I retained the stock grip safety, and the crappy nylon mainspring housing when I replaced both with a flat housing, and a Wilson drop-in. |

I shot the heck out of the Uzi (that's not possible, I know) and went home, my Delta's cherry still intact. |

I could see that on like say a ww2 gun but on a delta elite? Sad. Anyway OP shoot the hell out of it. Nice guns. |

Nice... I've got a G20SF, G29 and a Coharie CA89 10mm I know about the 10mm addiction... Yea the 20sf wasn't out when I picked up mine. I do plan on getting one down the road though as I'm not a fan of the grip on my 20fs. Just can't really give it too much crap as it shoots like great. Friend bought the 29 after shooting my 20. Neat little gun. I wish I had the cash to dump into a hk style 10mm. I've shot more then one of them before and they are nice. |

They told me a couple of months ago they had one, maybe two, left. I found one for sale on the EE and got it after the first buyer couldn't come up with the funds. It shoots like....a 10mm HK. The thing is freakin awesome! I cannot understand why they wouldn't keep making these as it is a unique and powerful weapon. And 10mm ammo isn't hard to find (as some think). I can buy Double Tap all day long! |
