Which would you rather have 9mm, .45ACP, .380, .357 sig, or a 10mm?
Im leaning toward a 9mm or a .357 sig. But the rest sound good too

I own four of those calibers- they all, well- you know- do what they do. you won't catch me in front of any of them by choice. Sometimes we nit-pick around here.

That being said, I have to say I am quite taken to the bark of my Sig 226 in .357SIG. It is what it is, but for me, for whatever reason, it is the most accurate pistol I own. Above that, I love the muzzle flash and pop. Quite a hit at the range. Ammo expensive- yes. Better choices, especially for the proverbial SHTF scenario, sure.

I guess it depends upon if your a communize in the most practical caliber kinda guy, or a one of every flavor kinda guy.

Im a very practical kind of guy. I like the power of the .357 sig, but 9mm is cheap and very common. I dont know, im stuck.

It depends on a combination of what you already have and what your intended use for your next handgun will be.

I have everything you listed minus 10mm, which due to cost of ammo, is the least likely caliber I would purchase at this time.  Do you have a pocket or BUG?  If not, go with a .380, or maybe a 9mm.  If so, then go with a larger gun / caliber.  Or, just buy another in a caliber you already own and save yourself from having to buy a whole new caliber of bullets.  Really, this is one of those questions that can only be answered by you.

I have a G23 and a S&W 642. Which is .40 and .38 special calibers. The S&W is standard carry for its lightness and compactness. I was looking for something which is concealable but gives a good punch. Also manageable and maybe my wife could carry/shoot..

Maybe something thin. I dont know. Give me some ideas.

10mm. If you reload it will cost just a tad more that 40 s&w once you get enough brass.
It is a badass round when loaded hot. Especially with the new Glock 20sf.

This^ +1

Just picked up my G20SF (already have a G29) and its badass! The 10mm is unreal verses other auto rounds...it's the pistol version of my S&W 500.

If you want factory load fun get the Winchester 175 silver.....696ftlbs   Nothing in the pistol world comes close!

And the recoil is not an issue, very smooth.

I recently consolidated my calibers to 9mm, 45acp, and 357mag for my pistols and plan on sticking with it. I'd rather have another 9mm. Specifically a 1911 in 9mm.

I did the same with my pistol ammo.

9mm, ,45acp and .357 magnum.

Following the KISS rule.

I currently have a Glock 17, Glock 19, Stoeger Couger .40, XD45 service and XD45 compact tactical (I swapped slides on my xd so I can carry the compact with 4" barrel).  If I were to get another handgun (besides the Buckmark 22lr I just bought), I'd get a .45 acp 1911.  Preferably a basic RIA 1911.  I thought about a Glock 20 for a bit, but figured it wouldn't be worth buying 10mm brass, bullets and dies for reloading (I don't reload .40 because I barely shoot it)

I currently have two .45's, one 9mm and one .357

I'm thinking about picking up another 9mm only because of having two just in case one craps out at a bad time. Another factor is the 9mm we currently have is hers and as such is small frame. I need one that fits my hand better.

Whats the KISS rule again? I forgot. I think its about availability right?, and if it is... I havent seen .45acp or 9mm in months! I have seen plenty of .40 though. I am thinking of picking up a 9mm or another .40 in glock. If not enough funds, maybe a little .22 pistol. P22 or sig mosquito, anybody ever shot a .22 sig?

True on the ammo supply issue.

But that's why I'm sticking with 9mm, .45 and...10mm (the expensive one nobody buys) I'm finding Winchester 175's all day long and have a harder hitting pistol then any other round out there.

For SHTF punch...10mm is what I'm reaching for first. The .45 and the 9's are backups.

9, 10, 45 is all you need in pistol....and the 5.7 if you have some FN SBR's

Ya I would like a 5.7 but the pistol itself is too expensive. I heard nobody has ever survived a round to the chest. It does some nasty damage. Im going to get one when they allow other manufacturers to make the bullets and guns. Its patented right now so I may not be getting one for a while, but I heard they may let somebody else produce either ammo or gun. I just dont like one person making all ammo, because what if the plant ever does go bankrupt? or something crazy
