Does anyone have a picture of the GRP II Recon without the Surefire light? It's the only commander sized gun with a light rail I could find. I think it would make a fine first 1911!

Try over at http://forum.m1911.org/  forum.m1911.org/ in their message boards.

They have a forum just for Nighthawk.
I like the idea of a Commander 1911 with a rail, I like it so much I am in the process of having a custom built just like that for OWB carry when walking in the woods or walking the dog in the sub (easier to cover than a full size with a jacker or sweatshirt.

I think the biggest problem you will run into is finding a holster....

I have already started my search for one to hold the Commander and a M6X light attached (OWB holster, Kydex paddle would be ideal) and my gun is still about 18 mths out from getting to me.

BTW just saw you are looking at this as your first 1911, nice choice!  Semi Custom is a good start BUT its gonna get to be a pricey habbit as you are setting the bar high for other 1911 purchases.  I started with a Kimber pre series I CDP and after that I haven't been happy with anything but a full blown custom build from the Full Custom Smiths.  From all I have read Nighthawk is right there neck and neck with Baer & Wilson Combat for the title of best Semi Custom and would be my first choice if I was to buy a gun I could have right away.

Wow, that is cool.

I've always liked Commander sized pistols, and I just recently decided I wanted a railed 1911.

That will be my next 1911 if I can find a holster.

No, Nighthawk makes beautiful Semi Custom pistols and if I needed a failry quick turn around thats where Id go but I am going with one of the true full custom Smiths.  One of the guys from the Yost Bonitz shop and I am having a Titanium frame so its gonna be nice and light!

Nothing really out of this world about it, but Kramer makes a nice, durable Horsehide holster for a railed commander.
