I stink at firing Glocks, but I need one. I have a CZ P01 and KelTec P3AT as a BUG, but am looking at Glock 19 or 26. Is the answer still Glock 19, or are there advantages to the 26?
I have the CZ as a bigger handgun, so it would be nice to have something more concealable (in between KelTec and CZ). Thoughts? |

If you really don't like Glocks that much, why not pick up another brand that is about the same size? Yep, thought about it. An M&Pc or an XD. I like the Glock reliability a lot, I just can't shoot very well with them. Are M&Ps on par with Glock reliability? |

Glock reliability is overstated on this site by many members. Not saying they aren't reliable, because they are, but there are plenty of other reliable handguns out there... S&W M&P9, SIG P226/9, CZ 75, etc., etc. find a quality brand pistol that fits your hand and stick with it. The M&P9 is a better pistol than the Glock in my opinion.

I like the M&P a lot and have had not reliability problems at all. There was a thread recently on the M&P9 that went over 62,000 rounds. I believe there were only two malfuctions this entire time until a small crack developed in the slide and S&W's lawyers wouldn't permit any more rounds to be fired for liability purposes. |

Even if you could run 5 million rounds through one w/o a single malfunction, what good does it do you if you can't effectively hit what you're aiming at or if you are uncomfortable firing it? IOW, if it doesn't feel good in hand, you probably won't put the time in in order to become proficient with it because you will always gravitate to another gun. |

I also have a P-01 and I believe it to be the same size as a G19. As for the G26, it will be lighter and with 4 less rounds. I think the P-01 is every bit as capable if not more so than the G19, at least more inherently accurate. For me this is true. Just thinking it may be nice to have something a tad smaller for deeper concealment in the summer. |

I think I keep trying to convince myself I can "learn" to shoot it well. But I always gravitate to something else. At least the P01 is good for me. |

The only one that feels pretty good is the G30SF, and that will actually be my next purchase. Stick with what works for you as long as you get the reliability and consistency that you are after. That's why we have so many wonderful choices! |

Glocks can have issues as well so I don't see them as being more reliable then most other modern pistols.
I will say that they're the most basic design and once you learn how to (easily) take them fully apart and you learn how interchange the parts are between gen's and models, you realize that you own probably the best carry/shtf gun the market today and from the looks of it, for some time to come. |
| If you don't like it you don't like it, end of story. Plenty of reliable compacts in the same price range, with similar features. Sig makes a great firearm, but personally I hate the grip shape and think the triggers are shit(to me), so I don't buy them. My father absolutely loves them. Such is life. You should simply line up 5-6 similar choices(Sig/XD/M&P/Glock/FN, etc), and do the pepsi challenge, pick them up and line it up a few times, one will rub you the right way on first impression. All the major players are more then capable. |

When you sum up size/weight/CAPACITY/price the 9mm glocks are the standard out there and for good reason. Some don't like it but it seems to be a industry standard pistol. |
