I bought a used 357 blackhawk from omb express a few years ago.  They said it was a little rough and when I received it to my surprise it was a unconverted 3 screw.  Last year I thought about sending it back to Ruger for the safety upgrade.  Also, I thought maybe they might re-blue it for me.  Fast forward to last week.  I sent it in through my ffl dealer.  He calls me yesterday and said Riger called and said they would not put the safety in and wanted to send me a new gun.  Not sure what was wrong but shoot yes, I will take a new blackhawk.  I trust my ffl guy because he was a good friend before he was my ffl dealer.  Anyway, ruger didn't have to do that but they did.  That is why I own many of them and won't hesitate to buy more.

They no longer have the parts for the old 3 screw pistols. They did the same for me several years ago on a MK I target pistol, It was pretty wore out and needed some major replacement parts that they no longer made so they sent me a new MK II target in its place! I own several Rugers and always will!

I can't really believe that. I had a 3-screw .357 Blackhawk converted about 18 months ago.

Not sure what the deal was.  I thought about calling Ruger but didn't.  Anyway, I picked up my new blackhawk Friday.  Took it to the range yesterday and am very pleased.

Might have had a cracked frame or something similar that made it unrepairable.

They have the conversion parts for the 3 screw guns, but that's the only parts they have, if anything in there is worn or damaged they cant repair it so they offer you a new pistol.

It's great they offered you a new gun...but I would have kept the 3 screw.

No way would I trade a 3-screw blackhawk for a new model.

As long as your happy, it's just my opinion.
