Hey guys, and ladies if you are out there, what do you think about the sights that Novak offers? Are they up to snuff? I'm a new owner of a Springer G.I. and it needs sights bad haha!! (I cant see that little guy up front!!) |

Novak makes a model that fits the G.I. dovetail––no milling of the slide is required. Its available plain, with white dots, or with tritum night sight inserts with prices from $30 to $90. The downside is that because the slide isn't cut down, the sight perches on top of the slide and doesn't look as streamlined as the other models, which require the modified slide. The front sight has to be changed as well, to accomodate the increased height of the Novak rear. I think the whole sight package (with the plain Novak and a gold bead front sight) was about a $100.
I have regular Novak rear sights on several Springfield and Colt 1911s. I think they're considered the standard against which the other sights are compared. Some are better, some not so much. |

Thanks, i think i should have told a little more about the gun tho, it has a stake on front sight.... Yeah, I assumed that was the case. I had the Novak G.I. configuration sight I mentioned installed on a Colt which also has a staked front sight. That had to be removed, and the taller staked front sight added. Not a big deal. Any sight change you make to a SA G.I. is going to require a new, taller front sight. |
| I have a Kimber pro carry II with trijicon night sights, as well as a Sig 1911R with Novaks, both from this year. In pitch black, it seems like my trijicons are a little brighter than my novaks. Not the biggest difference, i can still see the novaks, but the trijicons still seem a tad brighter. |
