The XD is nice, but you have to be aware that there is an inherent slide issue with all XD models. I've seen numerous people inadvertently lock the slide back on the XD. I believe this happens during reassembly, the barrel gets pushed down and for some reason locks the slide in place. Most will have to go back to SA if this occurs.

Perhaps a smith can chime in and give better detail of what is happening with the XD.

WTF is this guy talking about? (quoted from a post in the desert eagle section.)

I've read that some people have accidentally locked their slide back while it cycled. They fire, and while the slide is cycling back their thumb puts pressure on the slide lock. Thus, the slide becomes locked back. Never heard of what this poster specifically mentioned.

OK, what this guy is saying isn't really the case that is different from other similar pistols. If you put the slide and barrel in with out the guide rod in it (you have to try hard to screw it up with the guide rod and spring in it) then if you put the slide on the frame, slide up (it is easier to always put it on with the top of the slide facing the ground) then the barrel ramp can get wedged under the locking block.

If you are not paying attention and continue to try to pull the slide back, you can get it really stuck.

Again it is not a gun design problem, it is a USER problem.

Agreed that it is User Error.
