I bought a Clark's reverse plug for my Officers ACP and had a hard time getting the gun back together. What is the trick to field stripping it & putting it back together? Or is it just going to be a pain in the @$$.
Thanks,
TC

It's a drop in plug, right?  Does the slide not go far enough back?  Also, are you using a recoil buffer?  Is this the type you need to use a pin to capture the spring on?

They be a pain in the ASS

I assemble the top end and hold the recoil spring in place with the fingers of my left hand while sliding it onto the frame.

Then I hook my left thumb into the trigger gaurd and grip the slide and frame tightly to hold them in place as I insert the slide stop.

Sorry the last one's fuzzy

Hope this helps.

SGB has it right.  With the reverse plug you have to insert the barrel, insert the bushing, slide the reverse plug in from the back, insert the spring and guide rod, and then put the assembled upper on the frame.  Retract the slide just enough to get the slide stop in and you are done.  Once you get used to this procedure it is not that much of a pain.

Thanks guys. I did it like SBG, I guess thats about the only way. I hope I get used to doing it pretty soon. I had to chase my guide rod around the garage 3 times. Thanks again for the info.

Sorry 'bout that. I don't type very well. I haven't seen you at the range on the National Forrest. Do you shoot somewhere else now? I'm the guy that was shooting the Kimber beside you while you were doing your range report/test on your 1960's (?) National Match. It's been a while, you probably don't rember. Anyway, thanks again for the info.
