ive recently obtained a few boxes of 1990 match ammo from winchester olin.
came in a plain brown box.    havnt seen much around  before and was wondering if this is just plinking ammo or what? nato?

That stuff was/is produced for the military pistol teams who participate in NRA bullseye competition.

It was manufactured with far more care and precision than standard ball ammunition, the idea being to make it as consistent as possible from cartridge to cartridge. Where it shines is at the "long line"; 50 yards.... IF you do your part, and your pistol is up to it.

If what you have is in the military issue brown cardboard boxes, I'd hang onto it. A collector will pay you well for it some day; if nothing more, enough to buy a few boxes of regular ball or WW "white box match"...

WRA Match Ball is good stuff, doesn't seem as hot as IMI or the newer Federal Match Ball.

The round in question is kept at 855 fps... it is almost religious.
Federal Gold Medal has a different spec.
