What are the main difference's in these two guns? I'm looking for my 1st full size 1911, is there front strap checkering on the operator?

Not to hi-jack but I am going to add the Loaded model to this question.  I have a >$1000 budget but other than aesthetics what are the functionality differences?

TIA - Noob to 1911

There are several different types of Operators including a TRP Operator. The Operator models have the light rail on them where as the non Operator models do not. Check out www.springfield-armory.com to see the main differences. The TRP Operator does have front strap checkering as well as several other upgrades, the MC Operator and Lightweight Operators do not. However, the MC Operator comes with Pachmayr grips which cover the front strap with rubber checkering.

The main difference (in my opinion) is that you can have a gunsmith checker your MC Operator's frontstrap to your preference. A TRP has already been brutalized with 20lpi.

TRP Operator:

Adjustable target sights
Bull barrel
Magwell
Reverse plug (I Think)
Front strap checkered

MC Operator

Non adjustable night sights
Standard dia barrel
no magwell
Standard GI spring/plug setup
No FS checkering
400 less than TRP...

The bull barrel and the adjustable sights made me choose the MC... That is if I can find one

The MC Operators seem to get the most care and attention out of the Loaded line, and that would be a very solid pistol out of the box, especially with ArmoryKote finish.

If you're not keeping the Pachmayers, then frontstrap texture might matter if you're not planning on running skateboard tape on there, but that's still fairly affordable as far as modifications go.

If the sights are on, then I don't see much advantage adjutables would offer - would be nice to have, but it really depends on how you intend on using the pistol.
Barrel profile - I can't fathom the difference being huge for me, as a good 1911 with a brief lookover by a good smith, and a simple trigger job can outshoot me all day long.

The SA MilSpec, MC Operator, and TRP are the best 1911 values right now, tough to choose between them.
