i'm used to shorter resets like 1911s, Glocks and a sig with the srt. i love the ergos on my p2000 (that i haven't shot much yet) but hate the reset. it is a mile long. I don't mind the trigger pull as i know it'll get smoother but after dry firing for awhile, the reset really bothers me. Is there anything I can do? Is this a training issue or...? I really like everything else about the gun. On Bill Springfield's web site it says he'll get rid of some trigger pull and creep but says nothing about reset.

Well, I found out that the only way to reduce reset is to have Bruce Gray do his reset job for $300. Too steep. Not sure what to do now. I guess shoot the P2000 and get used to it. I really like a short reset and hope I can get accustomed to the HK trigger or I'll be selling. I'm in love with ergos and pointability of the P2000.

Are you talking about the reset while dry firing? Without the slide reciprocating after you dry fire you'll be reverting back to the DA pull and therefore the long DA reset. While firing it will stay in SA mode and the reset is shorter.

If that's what you're doing, try this. Follow all procedures to safely dry fire your pistol, i.e. triple checking the chamber is clear and the gun is pointed at something you don't mind destroying. Then rack the slide so that the pistol is cocked and in SA mode. Pull the trigger and keep the trigger held back. Now, rack the slide while the trigger is still held back to once again cock the pistol (which is what would have happened if you had a live round in the chamber). Now let the trigger out and note the reset. This is what the reset will be like while actually firing as the gun stays in SA mode.

It's a "training" and a "need to get out and shoot her more" issue.

Adfinder23, the process you mention is exactly what I do. I will just get out there with a box of ammo soon and get used to the reset with training and practice. Thanks guys. Does the HK45 have the same reset and pull in da/sa, or is it different?

That is not true. Not sure where you are getting your info man. Just shoot your P2000. My USP has a sweet trigger and finally broke in after I blasted 3500 rounds through it. No gritty trigger...so you need to do some range time behind your HK.

i was told by HK last week. I'm about to order a box of .40 to get the bal rolling. suggest a certain type of .40 that i can break this puppy in with and use as a HD/carry round as well? I was looking at Winchester bonded for $399 shipped. good choice or no?

I'd go with anything "bonded" i.e. Speer and Winchester.

I've been thinking about sending my P2000 to get some work done by Bill Springfield as well.
