Need a new 9mm and was hoping to get a little insight from those that have handled the two.

Don't have a dealer in my neck of the woods so I can't personally handle them before purchase which isn't the greatest but....

...is the P2000 small enought for conceal carry?

How's the mag release compare on the two?  I truly hate the release on my Glock.

Any and all insight comparing the two would be appreciated.

Thanks,
Rick

I rented a P2000 at a local range and it's a sweet little piece.  I liked that it had the ambi slide and mag releases, and both were easy to manipulate.  Size wise it seems comparable to a Glock 19, but the grip may be a tad longer.  The P2000 was definitely smaller than the USPc.

If you want a safety lever, the USP compact has this as one of the versions available, the P2000 does not.  The downside to the USP compact is the rail is not what the industry settled on for a standard, but it was one of the first guns with a rail.

The USP compact is nearly identical to the Glock 19 in all external dimensions, if you need a reference.

The P2000 is .19 inches longer than the USP compact, having a slightly longer barrel.

The P2000 has interchangeable grips (though the USP compact feels pretty good, especially if you don't like the Glocks grip), and a standard rail for mounting accessories.

I have both. They are identical in size, although the P2000's barrel is about an eighth of an inch longer. They also use the same magazines. I also have a G19, and they are all three comparable in size.

Both pistols are very good weapons...FWIW, I went with the USP9C because I like to CCW in condition one ("cocked and locked").

If you don't mind carrying in condition two (weapon charged, hammer decocked for a heavy DA trigger pull on the first shot), then the P2000 is a good option.
