Which do you prefer and why?
It seems the main difference is the grip length but it doesn't appear too significant.
Have you tried both?

I have the SAS version of the carry.  I like it because it is clean with nothing to get hung up on.  If you are going to use it as a CCW, I would not get a beaver tail.

Also, IIRC the compact had a mag capacity of 6 (+1) while the carry has 8+1.

I have a 220 Carry that I daily carry, and it is fine for me.  I am a bigger guy (6'6" and 275lb)

I have a compact. I like it because it's just slightly bigger than the Glock 26 I used to carry. I can conceal it pretty well with just a vest.

Primary purpose would be for concealment.

Currently looking at the Compact SAS with extended magazine as it would probably fit better then the standard compact.
For the Carry currently looking at the standard 220 carry, SAS Carry or Elite Carry.

I have an elite dark carry.  The stock grips are really nice except for when they rub against your belly all day.  I'm 6'7" and 275 and carry an XDS with a t-shirt.  For me, I would need a wind breaker or another shirt to cover up my 220.

P 220 Carry Equinox in a horsehide Super Tuck on a 1 1/2" Comp tac Kydex Reinforced Contour Belt; my every day carry for the last two years, very often carried under a single tee shirt and shorts.

I'm highly satisfied with the pistol and the holster and carry it everywhere every day.

If you are going to have a problem with concealment, I believe it will be with the width of the pistol (which is the same for the carry and compact models) rather than with the length of the grips.

The spare magazine is carried in the horizontal Allied Multi Tool Pouch and the Razor Cell Phone has long been replaced.

The pistol has gone 9100 rounds, right out of the box, without a malfunction or stoppage of any sort; RA 45B, P45 HST2, and assorted 230 grain FMJ range crap from Winchester, PMC, Remington, Independence and Aguila.

Sweet shooting gun, I just ran 100 rounds of PMC through it this afternoon.

BTW; the length of the grips and consequently the magazines and magazine capacity are the only differences between the Carry and Compact models,

The top ends are exactly the same and in fact, can be switched between the two models.

I have both.  Size of the slide and barrel are identical but the shorter grip on the compact makes only a slight difference in concealed carry.  Bought both, one for home and one for CCW.  Fantastic products without an doubt...IMO the compact isnt worth the cost as its nearly the same size as the carry model.  If I had to limit myself to one (thankfully I could swing both)...I'd buy the carry.

By doing further research and checking the specs, I noticed the Carry is only .6 inches shorter and all else is the same.

Figured that isn't a significant enough difference to justify spending the cash if I already have a full size P220.

I was really expecting to have an inch or so less to deal with but .6 just isn't enough.

I own the p220 compact and love it, One of the smoothest shooting handguns ive ever owned. Plus if your worried about the magazine cap you can always get the x grip mag adapter for 8rd mags,I do that for range use ect... but i carry it everyday in a supertuck and love it.

I own a 220 Carry. It is a great gun and well balanced. I have large hands and the Compact did not feel right in my hands.

Nickel controls and fittings like an Equinox on a nitron pistol; I like it a lot.

Beautiful. Wish I could find a reasonable one. 220 carries appear to be somewhat hard to find--atleast from what searching I've done lately.

As the Compact comes, I couldn;t get a comfortable grip on it and I have small hands. Like has been said, given the grip size is the same, the difference in the bbl legnth between the standard and carry is negligible for Carry IMO.

Usually common, and many on GB. I recommend Northern Firearms on there, free ship and no CC fees.

A Carry R was the first Sig I purchased, and I love it. Fairly easy to conceal with an IWB holster. I just wish P220 magazines were cheaper...

I'll have to keep an eye out.

BTW, did you add the nickel controls yourself?
