Any andvantage to getting the Combat over a standard P220?  Is the extra $ worth it (in your opinion of course)?

My brother purchased one earlier this year to replace his P220ST as his duty pistol.  I have to admit, the P220 Combat is very nice looking.  I can't really comment on the durability.  The phosphate and nickel internals should provide some extra corosion resistance.  The frame is done in regular Nitron, but just in a different color.  One thing that I did like was the front strap has vertical checkering (well, not really checkering).  I think it allows for a better grip on the pistol than the smooth front strap on a regular P220.  I almost like the vertical checkering better than the aggressive checkering on the P220ST.  As far as the chrome lined barrel, I don't see it as much of a benefit.  I doubt that I could afford enough .45ACP to wear out a non-chrome lined barrel.

All in all, I don't really see it as much of an improvement over the P220.  The only exception is for those who can/have own suppressors.  The P220 Combat TB has a SIG Factory Threaded Barrel.  If you were searching for a unique SIG then the P220 Combat fits the bill.  If you're looking for a pistol that outperforms the P220: good luck!  If you're looking for a cool looking pistol with the reliability of a P220, the P220 Combat fits the bill!  Good luck with your search!

Thanks for the info.  That's kinda what I was thinking about the unique 220, so I have a Combat TB on the way.  I'll try to post some pics and give a range report when I get it.

On a side note... man, I have got to stay away from the EE - that place is addictive.  I have spent way too much money over there the last month or so picking up a Blackwater, HK Tac 45, and now this Combat.  But now I'm set on handguns (for at least a month or two )
