| I have a question for all of the SIG experts here. I have been shooting for over 20 years now, and have a few Sigs, but this is my first DAK model. Has anyone had a problems with theirs? After about 50 rounds, the slide would not stay back after the last round was fired. I was only shooting new ammo, I try to stay away from reloads. Any feedback would be appreciated. |

My surplus 226R DAK in 9mm has been gold. I believe I'm somewhere in the 300 round range without cleaning and plan on going many more without cleaning although I likely won't go to the 2,000 round, no malfunction limit required for the 2,000 round challenge.
Mine's a U.S. made model and I lube the rails with Lubriplate grease from NAPA if that means anything. |
| Shooting with both hands. The mag follower is also catching the slide lock, I checked with the slide off. It has me stumped. I read on another forum that there was an issue with older Sig 226 40SW mags, so maybe I have some of the older mags. Either way it is a great shooter and it will remain with me. I recently picked up some aftermarket Mec-Gar 13 round mags, but have not had a chance to try them out yet. Maybe this will solve the problem. If not, I will contact Sig CS. Thanks for all the replies. |

| Not sure if this may help- I was just switching out nickel parts for blued ones on my DAO 226. The new/ blued slide catch was not true (or straight?) and when I had the block in, it created a fair amount of tension that the follower of the mag wouldn't have enough force to push against the slide catch to get slide lock because the slide catch had lateral pressure pushing it outward toward the frame. Locking it by hand was fine but I did notice a bit of drag while manipulating it. After removal, I put it in my vise and ever so carefully straightened it till it functioned correctly. Drove me a bit crazy for a bit. |
