I recently picked up a West German P226 from a member here. It came with 6 factory magazines, all are marked "Made in the USA", I'm assuming these were made by Check Mate? If so it sounds like they are good for the range and not much else. It sounds like Mec Gars are the good stuff, but which ones, the 18 rounders? What is a good price for them as well? I found some for $23, sound legit?

Are Sig factory mags marked made in the USA mec gars? I was under the impression that they are Check Mate because of the made in the USA stamp. Mec-gars are made in Italy, and marked as such. "Made in USA" could be Checkmate, or it could be a different aftermarket brand. Remember that alot of the W.German made guns were sold during the mag ban, so alot of people had to buy aftermarket mags if they wanted hi-caps at an affordable cost. Many people just buy aftermarket still, due to cost. |

| Thanks for the info. The "Made in the USA" mags came in Sig factory packaging so I am assuming they are Checkmates made directly for Sig. I picked up some 18 and 20 round Mecgars for carry and will run the other magazines hard at the range. Again thank you for the replies and info. |
