I haven't paid much attention to Sigs in a while.  Last one I owned was a P228 years ago that I foolishly sold.  I always liked the size of the P228/P229, but hated the step and the small serrations on the P229 slide.  Looks like they are cutting the new P229 slides with the serrations going all the way from top to bottom now.  When did they start doing this?

Yup, no more half height slide serrations on the P229.

I think they announced it at the shot show when they announced the E2 grips. Wasn't that shot show before the last?

The new style P229 slide debuted with the Sig E2 (squared) pistols, which were a limited run for 2010. They don't make the E2's anymore but the E2 grips are now standard on the base (among other models) P229's and P226's. Plus the P229 kept the "new" full height serrations on the slide.

Nice!  I miss my P228, but the new P229 just moved up a notch in my book.  I like the looks of the SAS.

Purchased one a couple of months ago.  I was expecting the 'old' grip/frame and slide.  I received the 'new' one with the E2 grip and full height cocking serrations.  The slide looks alot more like the 228 to me.  Anyway, I was initially concerned, but after some test firing...I love it!  Very nice improvments to the 229 IMO.

ETA:  What the hell...here it is.....

That looks great Kittyhawk! Might have to pick up a newer Sig eventually so I won't have to use my German ones so much.

Yep, the extractor is at least twice as long as on the previous version of the 229.  (just like on the 226.  top in photo below)

Yep, 9mm.

My 228R has an internal extractor, as I believe all 228's have.  (bottom in photo below)

yes they do have the internal extractor. i've got 2 older, ka 228's, don't like the 228 with a rail.

the last 228's/'09 were 229 frames and the older 228 folded slide.
