Hey guys, So i have a xd 40 4", i love the gun, but i have recently really been starting to like the sig p229r, i think it looks better and i like the all metal construction. The xd is an amazing piece but i also like the fact about the sig of the external hammer, i guess its an old fashioned thing, but i like knowing when the gun is ready to rock, being able to go from double to single action and so forth. It is not feasible for me to keep both guns, but i dont know if it would be worth it to sell my xd to my buddy who wants it and get the sig, or just keep the xd, this would be potentially used as a carry weapon but primarily a range/ home defense gun. One of lifes many dillemas...

STOP DO NOT DO IT......... If you like your XD and it has been a good pistol then keep it and save for the SIG which is also a nice pistol. Do not listen to the "trade and do not look back..." because eventualy the newness of the SIG will were off and even though I am sure you will like it you will regret getting rid of the XD (if you like it and it has been a great pistol for you) I can not tell you how many times I have traded just to get something new and regret not having the pistol I traded. Be patient and save for the SIG then put it on layaway or buy it and you will not regret doing it and have two great pistols. This is not a brand loyalty thing it is an experiance thing that I am speaking of and would say the same thing if you wanted to trade the SIG for an XD (Which I am a fan of) Work some OT and save for the SIG. |

If it is not feasable to get both, then it sounds like you are in no position to take a loss on selling that which works and buying something new + tax + mags + extra range time for cycling confidence and familiarity. Wait until you find yourself in a position to be able to own both. The worst thing that could happen is that you sell one then. |

I also have both, I like the consistant trigger pull of my XD better than the double/single of my sig. mags are cheaper for the XD at about $25 each -vs- the $42 for the sig (ouch) dementions are about the same and the XD weighs a little less. both are great guns, but if I had to sell one it would be the sig. (mostly better return on investment) but also I like the XD better. |
