I've been looking at different options for handguns. The P30 is one of them. I have some questions about it.

I've read here that armorer maintenance is required at 25,000 rounds. Does HK have armorers all over like Glock? Or does it have to be sent in? Does HK do if for free? Or do you have to find the parts and do it yourself? How expensive are parts? How complicated is it to repair?

About carrying it: John Wayne, I know you said that you carry it in an appendix holster. Do you ever do this with shirt tucked in? How does everyone else here carry it? Does it generally conceal well?

Thanks for any help. Sorry if these questions are redundant and have been answered.

Parts are available from TGS, HKParts, and from HKI.  You can send it to HK on your dime and they can do the work or you can do it yourself.  There are plenty of Armorer's manuals floating around.  As for carry, I carry mainly IWB but also have OWB holsters available.

I dress accordingly and carry my P30 in a Kramer belt scabbard horsehide holster 99% of the time. When I am in a hurry the P30 can easily be tucked in the front of my pants without a holster and there is no safety to rub you wrong in the groin, I do make sure that I wear a belt to secure the pistol though. Tucking in in the front of your pants is not comfortable at all if I sit down, that is why I dress for conceal carry and use the Kramer holster. I tried a Kramer IWB holster and it was not comfortable at all for me, but it does conceal the P30 a bit better.

I do all the work on my USP's myself. No special tools are required... I use two punches and a hammer. They are relatively simple guns, but if you are not comfortable doing your own work you can certainly send it in and have the factory do the work for you. Depending on where you are, there may or may not be armorers around. The P30 is pretty new but they are very similar to the USP.

Yes. I'm a little surprised that HK is so adamant about not detail stripping the USP, P2K/30 and HK45 series pistols. IMO, they're not really very complicated. Just don't take the trigger return spring out unless you really have to, it's a pain to put back in if you don't make a tool to do it.

I guess it depends on your degree of mechanical aptitude. I've successfully disassembled jet airplanes, bicycles, N scale locomotive and pocket watches, so it's no big deal to me.

i carry a P30 LEM as my EDC and it is excellent; you will not be disappointed.

i think it's safe to say that there are not quite as many HK armorers as there are glock, but they are around. but since it's an HK, you won't need any maintenance… ever but if something goes wrong with it, it's most likely your fault. just kidding. but TLG is doing the 100K torture test on a P30 LEM. it's holding up pretty well. P30 test

i carry my P30 in either a raven concealment [OWB] or a comp-tac CTAC, strong-side. both are great. i'm too fat for appendix carry.
